Llewelyn ap Gruffydd

(m. 11 dic. 1282, cerca de Builth, Powys, Gales).

Príncipe de Gales (1258–77). A partir de 1255, como príncipe de Gwynedd en Gales septentrional, intentó extender su dominio por todo el país y se proclamó príncipe de Gales en 1258. Combatió a los señores feudales ingleses del sur de Gales (1262) y se alió con Simón de Montfort, opositor de Enrique III. Sin embargo, tras la muerte de Montfort, firmó un tratado donde reconoció a Enrique como su señor (1267). Se rebeló contra Eduardo I pero fue derrotado por este en 1277. Murió en una última rebelión en 1282 y pronto Gales quedó enteramente bajo el dominio inglés.
